From the Easel: "Corruption"

What started as a sketch, became one of the largest painting I have ever done. The idea was to personify the term or concept of "Corruption", in the sense of decay.

To start I knew I wanted smog/smoke emitting from the head so for my reference photos I covered my hair. I took many shots to get this right and as you can see I lassoed and pieced together from a few photos to get the overall reference. I even digitally painted in a few of the main items of decoration (yes that Iron man-esque power core on my chest is digitally painted on). The painting I did right before this one; "Angel" sure taught me a lesson on reference photos (see post on "Angel").

Went into a wash stage with turps then went ahead into the paint. The painting has some odd fractional sizing to it so I have just listed it as 30" X 40"
"Corruption" Oil on Linen 30" X 40" 2011
