Insidious

To take a break from painting and to post something "inspirational", on a movie seen only on a whim. Insidious. Only knowing the movie poster and the promoted "hands" that were involved (Saw, Paranormal Activity), this movie directed by James Wan was pretty good!

Sure there were cheesy parts and cliche parts, but overall the movie was interesting and had alot of great film shots (Also had probably my favorite opening credits). So many shots in fact that I am going to buy the DVD, if only to get those snapshots!
A few of the only shots I could find online. Love the last one! what a face! All images are copyright Film District 2011

I won't give away the premise, instead I will direct you to a few sites. These sites are affiliated with the film and are viral marketing, which I found after seeing the movie. Truth be told, I found Valerie's blog to be extremely creepy towards the end of it and while not lending wholly to the plot in the movie, it does contain alot of the same themes.

Valerie's blog, Voice from the Further. The blog follows her investigations and personal haunting experiences, which all contain the same "characters" and themes as the film. Sure, alot of it is cheesy, but I thought the tweets, emails and phone calls, that "don't exsist" were a good touch in our modern times, and honestly gave me a chill, ESPECIALLY the last 4 or so posts!

Spectral Sightings. This blog was set up as the "official" site of the Spectral Sightings company, and their "portfolio".

Insidious. This is the official movie site, from here you can find the blog of Spectral Sightings and, Voice from the Further.

Is this all very Hollywood? Yes. Is this all exploiting the modern technology our generation uses in an effort to make money? Hell yes. Is it enjoyable? I think so, it is definitely fun to immerse myself into this horror world that they have created!

One final note to those who have seen Saw, or either/both the Paranormal Activities. Be on the lookout for props used in those movies. Eg;
First scene with husband in classroom at the school. Bottom left of the chalkboard behind him, there's a little chalk cartoon of...
Enjoy!
